Chic or sh*t?: Single sole heels

World, I have a problem. I used to love heels - the big chunky platform type that were super comfy - but now, since the return of single soled shoes, I'm struggling to feel stable in a pair of skyscrapers.

Yes, they look cool. Rihanna werks them with swag like no other. Worn with boyfriend jeans they look haaawwwt in a low-effort way, unlike platform heels, which do give the impression that you're trying hard be a sexy laddyyy. But the numerous pair of single sole, thin-heeled shoes I've tried on have just left me feeling a bit wobbly, like the heel is going to snap at any moment. This may be because I've mainly tried Primark's budget efforts, or maybe because I'm a block heel girl at heart.

However, as a lover of the 1990s, I can't deny the appeal of a pair of delicately formed, thin-heeled and brightly coloured heels, that just scream out to my inner Clueless fan. AS IF!

What do you think? Are single soled heels back for good? Let me know!

WATCH: 30 interesting facts about me!

Now I don't usually do this, but uh... go head on and break 'em off with a lil' preview of the remix... Sorry. R. Kelly on the brain. What I meant to say was... I don't usually post about my myself, mainly because I think my opinions are a bit more interesting than just me, but as a birthday treat I've recorded something a bit different for y'all.

In a bid for my readers to get to know me, Sharn, a bit better, I've compiled 30 interesting (ish) facts about me, slapped them in a video, and put it out there for the world to see. If you're interested, have a watch, if you're not, have a watch anyway - you never know what you might learn!

Thanks and here's to turning 24! (yesterday, but whatevs!)

Friday Fun: Sharpie nail art

I'm not sure what you're about to see could be considered 'art' in any sense, but this is about as good as it gets when it come to me and nails. I'm a persistent nail biter, picker, anything to stop them growing-er, which has left me with short stubby ones I can do little with. But today I've come up with a fun way to make your nails look interesting, which doesn't require intricate patterns and a very steady hand.

All you'll need is a Sharpie fine point marker, or any other good marker pen, so long as it has a fine tip. The process is seriously easy - start by painting your nails any colour - I've gone for Barry M's Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blood Orange 312. Then, once they've dried, grab your pen and get doodling! I've gone for a selection of funny faces, which makes my hands look like a 13-year-old's rough book, but you could try spots, squiggles or even letters. The pen is your oyster!

The best part is that as it's a permanent marker it doesn't smudge or budge once it's dried, and you don't necessarily need a top coat, but to protect your art work it is advisable.

How easy was that ey? Who needs nail art pens when you've got a good ol' Sharpie.

A quick review: Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara - Black

I've not seen a TV ad for this mascara, but I can already imagine the ingenious puns used. Something along the lines of "This mascara will ROCKET your eyelashes into OUTER SPACE, give them ASTRONOMICAL volume and make them look as big as THE MOON", perhaps? Gotta love beauty ads, they never fail to entertain.

But unlike many products, where a fancy new name is just a way of repackaging an identical existing product, Maybelline's latest eyelash effort is something truly new. I'm a big fan of their whole Volum' Express range of mascaras, the Cat Eye edition being my absolute favourite, but The Rocket mascara has a whole new thick rubber brush which works wonders on my eyes.

Fanned, lengthened, separated, and coated in an intense inky black colour - it's all there, packaged in a small pink and blue tube. This mascara is easy to use, quick to give a striking effect and quite simply one of the best new lash products I've tried in a while. And on special for £5.99 (Boots), I couldn't be happier. I am officially converted. Thanks Maybelline, your new mascara is OUT OF THIS WORLD (Sorry).
